Objective: From resources to welfare
Access to modern energy is essential for the provision of clean water, sanitation and healthcare and for the provision of reliable and efficient lighting, heating, cooking, mechanical power, transport and telecommunications services – all of which we consider as a natural part of a welfare society. The increasing energy demand worldwide relies heavily on global resources being utilized with unavoidable impact on the environment. Thus, a transformation towards green energy is needed. At the same time, it is a fact that billions of people still lack access to the most basic energy services and that the global population continuous to increase. Improving access to energy to lift the welfare for billions of people puts enormous challenges on the energy industry.
The green energy transformation can therefore not be delinked from the essential need for reliable resources such as oil and gas. Energy poverty and climate issues must be addressed simultaneously. As an oil and gas producing nation, Denmark has the possibility and thereby the responsibility to extract and produce the oil and gas resources available to us both for the benefit of the Danish society and globally – always with continuous focus on safety and limiting the impact on the environment.
