Nicoló Sartori is Head of the Energy, Climate and Resources Programme and senior fellow in the Security, Defence, Space Programme at the Istituto Affari Internazionali. He works with the evolution of technologies in the security domain with a particular attention to the concept of energy security. In addition, his research focuses on the geopolitics of energy. Finally, his activity focuses on the external dimension of Italy’s and EU’s energy policies.
He holds a Ph.D. from University of Kent with a thesis on the relation between the abundance of energy resources and military spending.
The speech addresses the evolution of EU’s energy policies in the context of the Energy Union providing a vision on how oil and gas resources – included domestic ones – will accompany Europe’s energy transition in the short, medium and long-term.
