Obejctive: Still learning

In recent years the focus on safety has turned from prevention of trips and falls to a focus on prevention of major incidents. Operators and service providers are aligned to ensure that skills, training and competence be systematically managed. Planning and performance of operations and maintenance now concentrate on the integrity of plant and on keeping barriers intact.

With an initial background in electronics and then moving onto further study in Occupational Health I joined the O&G industry in 1997.

Richard started my O&G career working in the field/HSE role in Perth and Central Australia with M-I SWACO. In 1999 this role expanded to include New Zealand/PNG. In 2001 he became QHSE Manager for Asia Pacific Region for M-I SWACO initially based in Perth and then Thailand before moving into a Corporate QHSE System Manager role in 2007.

In 2009 Richard moved to Dubai to take up the role as Eastern Hemisphere QHSE Director for M-I SWACO. Following the Schlumberger/Smith merger relocated to Paris in 2011 and moved into the Europe Africa HSE Manager position for Schlumberger where my key focus has been in the setting /tracking of key HSE objectives and targets for the area, leader in crisis management, overseeing security challenges within the region, incident /Hi potential investigation and review, field visits/inspections, interaction with key clients and focusing on continuing to improve HSE performance through a practical approach that engages both management and employees in the field.
