The North Sea Strategy calls for the industry ‘to look into the possibilities of reducing costs in connection with decommissioning, within the given boundaries, which promotes safety and the environment including possibly to decommission several facilities in sequence.’ The terms of reference for the Committee had been developed in part on the basis of what is in existence for similar committees in the UK and Norway.

The purpose of the Committee is threefold: 1) to facilitate knowledge sharing in the decom area among member companies, 2) to inform about and act on new legislation and regulations, and 3) to proactively pursue initiatives in the decommissioning area, in particular with a view to cost reductions and with a view to promote safe and environmentally friendly decommissioning processes and technologies.

The Decommissioning Committee meets four times a year. If you are interested in becoming a member of the committee, please contact Esben Mortensen on
